CHILD & ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST
One (1) Contractor Position
Wabasca, Alberta
The Bigstone Community Wellness department is seeking a dedicated and motivated Child & Youth Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team on a Contract basis. The Psychiatrist will provide consulting and follow up services to the children and youth of Bigstone Cree Nation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide medication management
• Provide diagnostic and evaluation services for clients
• Perform testing
• Collaborating with Families, Bigstone Community Wellness team members and other supports to coordinate treatment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Experience working in a Pediatric Mental Health Service/or acute Child Psychiatric setting
• Experience and advanced skills in diagnostic assessment, including mental health status examinations, risk assessment
• Experience in providing evidence-based individual and group treatment modalities for children and adolescents with severe mental health problems/disorders
• Experience in program development and evaluation and research
• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team with demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in change management with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and contribute positively to change in emerging services/programs
• Experience providing expert clinical consultation to and mentoring of families and professionals in the mental health field.
Education and Experience:
• Must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry and preferably have subspeciality certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Must be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
