COMMUNITY RESPONSE ASSISTANT
Full Time (Temporary) – UNTIL MARCH 31, 2026
Monday to Friday – 7 hours/day
Wabasca, Alberta

Bigstone Health Commission is seeking an experienced, highly detailed-oriented Community Response Assistant with strong administrative and organizational skills to join our talented Health Team. This opportunity will support the efforts of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action that will assist with the Residential School Inquest of the two former Residential Schools located in Wabasca-Desmarais.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support and assistance to the Community Response Coordinator including but not limited to taking minutes, scheduling interviews and meetings, travel arrangements, and other office duties.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and computer application)
• Planning and organization of community events within the Residential School Inquest.
• Demonstrate ability to perform detailed work accurately and timely, independently, with minimal supervision, and collaboratively as part of a team
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations and conditions
• Assist with the development of meeting and communication materials
• Knowledge of mental health community programs services, resources available provincially
• Ensure sensitivity in following all proper traditional protocols
• Knowledge and understanding of Residential School history in Canada
• Maintaining absolute confidentiality and discretion is imperative.
• Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Ability to travel; ability to work outside regular hours when required (weekend/evenings)
• Other duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong organizational, communication and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in completing tasks.
• Demonstrate ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality.
• Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience:
• Post-Secondary Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration, or related fields from a recognized institution or a minimum of two (2) years of equivalent experience
• Must have valid driver’s license, class 5 minimum
• Must have or obtain within six months of hire Standard First Aid/CPR certification and maintain such
• Vehicle is required, and must be willing to travel on short notice
• Ability to understand and speak Cree would be an asset.
