HEALTH CARE AIDE

The Bigstone Health Commission in Calling Lake, AB is seeking a Health Care Aide to join our Homecare Team at the Bigstone Health Centre in Calling Lake, AB. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide assistance to clients on Bigstone Reserve
• Assist client with transferring/positioning and daily living activities
• Monitoring of client’s health/psychological status including but not limited to V/S (blood pressure monitoring, pulse, blood glucose, weight), and report any changes in clients’ conditions promptly
• Assist in teaching of personal care tasks to the client; promote independence of clients by teaching the client
• Ensure client safety and maintain a high standard of infection control and confidentiality
• Maintain accurate daily documentation (verbal and written)
• Support the client with medication reminders and assist with medication delivery as directed by nursing staff
• Assist homemakers with homemaking services, including light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe home environment
• Organizing supplies, assisting with equipment organization
• Assisting with health promotion activities and programs
• Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must have a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Understanding, patient, and respectful toward clients’ cultural, social, and emotional needs
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality
• Physically able to perform job-related tasks
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience:
• Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide Training
• Registered and in good standing with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
• Current Standard First Aid Certificate
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
